How can a deafblind dog communicate using buttons? I figured an updated explanation was long overdue. In short, Aston associates his buttons with an action or concept rather than a verbal word. He doesn’t need to hear or see to learn that I react a certain way when he presses a certain button. And he knows which button is which based on their location and unique texture/smell.
