In 1966, this lamp came into The Henry Ford’s collection without its original base. Collecting Louis Comfort Tiffany objects was new in the museum world—there were few written references curators could draw upon. This lamp remained unseen by the public for decades. In the past 50 years, Tiffany lamps have become carefully studied objects. Preparing for this traveling exhibit, curatorial and conservation staff researched the early Tiffany base and recreated this lamp’s outer base in a CAD render.
