BOSTON (AP) — The Red Sox signed rookie phenom Roman Anthony to an eight-year, $130 million contract on Wednesday, spending some of the cash they saved by trading Rafael Devers away on a player they hope will be the centerpiece of the next generation of Boston stars.

Roman Anthony and the Boston Red Sox have agreed on a contract extension that will keep the star rookie the face of the franchise for nearly a decade. The Red Sox signed the outfielder to an eight-year contract extension that spans the 2026-33 seasons,

Not only will Roman Anthony be a member of the Boston Red Sox through at least 2033, but he'll lead off on Wednesday night.
