U.S. Representative Marc Veasey, D-Fort Worth, said, "Republicans are putting the needs of Trump in front of their own constituents. This is going to be something I believe that we're going to dig ourselves from underneath for a long time to come."

Congressional Republicans are hoping to send their sweeping tax and spending cuts package, otherwise known as the “big, beautiful bill,” to President Donald Trump’s desk by July 4. The House and Senate have each narrowly passed their own versions of the bill.

For more than 20 hours, lawmakers worked through amendments to Trump's bill, beginning on June 30, and into the morning of Tuesday, July 1.
