Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith’s father, Fred Smith, founder of FexEx has died. He was 80. FedEx started operating in 1973, delivering small parcels and documents more quickly than the postal service.

Fred Smith, the FedEx Corp. founder who revolutionized the express delivery industry, has died, the company said. He was the father of Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.

Former Washington Commanders owner and FedeX founder Fred Smith has died at 80 years old after owning part of team from 2003 to 2021.
