6月3日清晨，拥有60张床位的拉法红十字战地医院收治了大量涌入的伤者，共计184名。其中19名伤者在抵院时即被宣告死亡，另有8名伤者在此后不久因伤势过重死亡。大多数伤者都是枪伤。同样，所有神志清醒的伤者均表示，他们当时正试图前往一个援助物资派发点。

医院工作人员依据分诊流程对患者进行了救治，部分病例被转诊到其他医疗机构接受进一步治疗。然而，鉴于许多医疗机构均遭到损毁或无法运营，转诊过程仍十分复杂。

他们和其他数千名苏丹难民一起刚刚抵达乍得东部一个偏远的边境小镇蒂内（Tiné），许多难民除了身上的衣物一无所有，只为逃离苏丹达尔富尔地区新一轮的暴力冲突。他们大多是妇女和儿童。所有人都急需援助。
