The US president’s outreach to Putin was described by a person familiar with the matter who requested anonymity because it had not yet been publicly announced. The call came during a break in talks, with Trump and European leaders resuming discussions at the White House on Monday evening.

Trump pledged that he would sign an executive order ending mail-in voting, falsely claiming that the United States was one of the only countries that still kept the practice.
