Dozens of Portuguese from the president to a childhood friend grieved for Diogo Jota in his hometown on Friday after the Liverpool star and his brother's death in a car crash.

The football world is mourning the loss of Liverpool star Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva. Jota, 28, and Andre Silva, 25, died in a car crash in Spain in the early hours of Thursday morning. Spanish authorities say the car left the road due to a tyre blowout while overtaking another vehicle and then caught fire.

“Futebol Clube Penafiel expresses its deepest sympathy for the tragic death of Andre Silva and his brother Diogo Jota, victims of a road accident in the last few hours,” the club said.
