According to an NJ Transit spokeswoman, one bus rear-ended the other as both were traveling from Exit 16E to Route 495 east. Both buses were headed to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City.

Tolls on the New Jersey Turnpike increased by 3% Jan. 1, but Hudson County drivers who get off at Exit 16E in Secaucus were socked with a nearly 70% hike in many cases.

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. at Exit 16E, according to New Jersey State Police.
