Tributes have been paid to a "loved and adored" man who died in a plane crash in India. Ashwin Harrington, 27, from Sudbury, Suffolk, was one of the 242 passengers and crew killed when a London-bound Air India aircraft crashed in Ahmedabad on Thursday.

At least 290 people have died after an Air India plane crashed shortly after take off from Ahmedabad airport in India on Thursday, a senior doctor at the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, where a majority of the dead and injured people were taken, told CNN.

The London-bound Boeing 787 struck a medical college hostel in a residential area of Ahmedabad minutes after takeoff Thursday, killing 241 people on board and at least 29 on the ground. One passenger survived.
